The Cycling and Adventure Club of Bhavan Vidyalaya Chandigarh has embarked on its annual Cyclothon, ODYSSEY 2024, traversing the challenging route from Shimla to Kaza, Spiti, and Manali. The grueling 950 km journey will be undertaken by 18 students and 5 teachers in 12 days starting from May 26 to June 6 2024, marking the first time they cycle such a strenuous terrain. The event was flagged off by Shri RK Saboo, Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Chandigarh Kendra, marking the beginning of this remarkable endeavour. In his speech, Chairman Shri RK Saboo expressed deep admiration for the young cyclists, praising their resolute commitment and passion. He highlighted how their remarkable journey serves as a source of inspiration for the entire school community.


This event aims at paying tribute to the brave ITBP soldiers guarding our frozen frontiers. It also intends in instilling values of loyalty, patriotism, and discipline in the participants. The initiative seeks to inspire and motivate students to consider careers in the Indian Armed Forces and serve the nation with dedication.


ODYSSEY 2024 marks the sixth expedition organised by the School, continuing their tradition of such successful ventures. The previous cyclothons include routes from Chandigarh to Amritsar (2018), Dandi (2019), Chail and Shimla (2021), Longewala (Jaisalmer) in 2022, and Kathmandu (Nepal) last year.


Mrs Vineeta Arora, Director Education cum Senior Principal, conveyed immense pride in the cycling team, who have taken on this extraordinary challenge, highlighting that ODYSSEY 2024 tests not only physical endurance but also embodies the spirit of adventure, determination, and teamwork that Bhavan Vidyalaya strives to cultivate. Also present were Ms Inderpreet Kaur, Principal, New Chandigarh, Mrs Kunika Sharma, Principal, Junior School, Mrs Suparna Bansal, Vice Principal, Senior School, and Mrs Ramneek Kaur, Vice Principal, New Chandigarh School. They too commended the efforts of these young participants as they embarked on this inspiring journey.
