‘National Statistics Day’ was celebrated at National Sample Survey Office (Field Operations Division) under the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, Government of India, remembering the contributions made by P. C. Mahalanobis in the field of statistics in the country. The theme on the occasion of National Statistics Day of the year 2024 was – ‘Use of Data in Decision Making’. The program was concluded under the chairmanship of Roshan Lal Sahu, Deputy Director General.


On the occasion, Deputy Director General Prof. Mahalanobis's model was discussed in detail which gave a new turn to the economy in the Second Five Year Plan 1956-61. Establishment of heavy industries became possible in the era of industrialization.


Guest speakers Prof. Rakesh Tiwari of A.N. Sinha Social Institute and Prof. Rita Kumari of B.S. College, Danapur introduced everyone the context of 'Use of Data in Decision Making' and educated all that, it has an important role in determining market trends and economic policy making. Appropriate policies are being made only because of the abundance of data. Professor of Arcade Business College, Mrs. Rashmi Gupta also addressed the gathering. The welcome address was given by Parimal, Deputy Director of the Office while the vote of thanks was given by Abhishek Gaurav, Assistant.


The stage was moderated by Priyanka Kumari, Senior Statistics Officer. On this occasion, a quiz competition was also organized among the invited students of the college and the first, second and third place winners were awarded by Deputy Director General Roshan Lal Sahu. Officials and employees were also present in the programme.
