Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the two-day (22 and 23 June) Mango Mahotsav 2024 organised at Gyan Bhawan located at Samrat Ashoka Convention Center. The proceedings of the exhibition were started following Indian tradition by lighting a lamp before any auspicious event, this honour was done by Chief Minister. Agriculture Department Secretary Sanjay Kumar Aggarwal welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him a green plant and exhibition emblem.


During the program, the Chief Minister visited the exhibition of different varieties of mangoes planted by mango growers and took first hand information about their characteristics. Chief Minister was seen taking keen interest into different varieties of Mangoes.


Mango in India is considered king of all fruits and is used in making different dishes both in raw and ripe form. It is used in pickles, sweet dishes, as garnish in some typical vegetarian dishes and if you are fan of Indian food you cannot undermine the punch it gives to any type of food as Amchoor Powder (Dried raw mango powder) which has subtle sweet and sour taste. Different varieties of mangoes have varied tastes in terms of sweetness and usually have different shape and colour both skin and flesh.


Chief Minister also presented token cheques granting money to various agricultural producer groups and food processing units to motivate them and show appreciation from State Government for their hard work that they put in, for Mango farming.


On this occasion, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Agriculture Minister Mangal Pandey, Transport Minister Mrs. Sheela Kumari, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Mr. Brajesh Mehrotra, Development Commissioner Mr. Chaitanya Prasad, Agriculture Department Secretary Mr. Sanjay Kumar Aggarwal, Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr. Anupam Kumar, Commissioner of Patna Division, Mr. Kumar Ravi, Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister, Mr. Gopal Singh, Special Secretary, Chief Minister's Secretariat, Mr. Chandrashekhar Singh and other senior officers were present.
